High potential on the Belgian Retail Market but strange corporate decision, lack of entrepreneurial spirit and awkward decision process
2 years as Expansion Manager (employé actuel) – Brussel – 19 février 2018
Too much management kill efficient management. Any project must be controlled and approved by numerous managers. Consequently, too much time is required to get a decision and many times you miss the bus. Moreover, while being manager requires being able to take a decision, no one dares as you never know it could be a wrong one. As a result, the company suffers from an unbearable payroll considering the unsufficient number of decisions taken or projects approved, while retailing always induces some controlled risk. Some other competitors in food retail dared in due time to bet on internet sales, giving them a huge advance in terms of customer's perception, Carrefour did not and went on investing in the traditional concepts of retail, f.e. hyperstores. And today the bill tastes very sour.
