The research institute works closely together with Group De Ceuster, where it supports different entities in their search for groundbreaking innovations.

To reinforce our team, we are looking for a lab technician to help us with several projects in plant virology.

Function

As a lab technician you support our colleagues with different projects and take care of the preparations in the lab.
This includes various tasks:

• Sterile work in our microbiology lab:
  • Preparation of various (sterile) growth media
  • Supporting microbiological experiments
• Supporting projects on plant diseases and the development of new biocontrol agents:
  • Taking care of plants in various plant trials
  • Processing plant samples
• Supporting the general lab operation:
  • Monitoring the operation of several devices
  • Autoclaving
  • All kinds of general lab tasks

Over the years, your range of duties will evolve and many new things will undoubtedly be added.

In this position, you will work full-time from our research center in Sint-Katelijne-Waver.
In 2026 a move to Herentals is planned, which will become your permanent base of operations.

Profile

Do you have a high school degree in a lab-technical subject? Do you like variety in your day but are not put off by recurring tasks? And do you speak English well? Then we are looking for you!

For our position of lab technician, we are looking for someone who:

• Possesses a high school degree in a lab-technical subject
• Has a basic knowledge of microbiology and sterility
• Likes a varied range of tasks, in which fixed tasks recur
• Has good communication skills
• Speaks English very well
• Gets energy from working together with and supporting several colleagues

Do you have experience with molecular biology and -techniques like DNA extractions and qPCR? and do you have a healthy interest in plants? Then that's a big plus!
