In a Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement mindset, Volvo Group Operation is constantly optimizing assembly processes and fastening tools.

Your ideal internship / thesis research

We are looking for a student to work with our production teams to prepare the upcoming change of the tightening torques for chassis bolts.
The objective of this project being to assess the impacts of this change, especially in regards with reliability, ergonomics and costs.

Your mission :

  • you will be in charge of delivering a comprehensive mapping of each tightening stations and evaluate the risk of the torque change, supported by screw joint experts and engineering teams.

  • Trained as a mechanical engineer and interested in various technical fields (manufacturing technology, metallurgy, surface treatment, finite element calculations, virtual reality, robotics, …
  • Open and flexible mind-set
  • Comfortable with cross-functional work and multi-cultural teams.

  • Fluent in English and ideally familiar with French.
  • Accuracy is your greatest asset.
  • You are hands-on.
