Join Toyota R&D’s Material Engineering team to enhance vehicle durability and prevent corrosion. Maintain data pipelines, optimize models, and create dashboards. Must know SQL, Python, ML, and data visualization.

Your team and your responsibilities:
Team/division description

The Material Engineering team at Toyota R&D is dedicated to pioneering advanced materials, driving innovation to enhance vehicle longevity and performance. The requesting group also provide critical insights to prevent field issues related to corrosion, ensuring high-quality, durable vehicles. As an intern, you'll contribute to environmental prediction efforts, directly supporting R&D initiatives that advance the field of material science.


Your project


  • Maintain and update the existing data pipeline using SQL and Python
  • Research and apply machine learning techniques like ensemble models to improve prediction accuracy
  • Develop and optimize models for environmental predictions
  • Take ownership of data dashboard (Streamlit or Dash) to visualize results
  • Assist in testing and refining models to meet project goals
  • Collaborate with engineers and data scientists to enhance data quality

Your Profile:
  • You are fluent in English (TME’s business language)
  • Strong knowledge in data engineering and data science
  • Experience with SQL and Python
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques, especially linear regression and random forest
  • Experience with dashboard visualization tools (Streamlit/Dash)
  • Interest in material engineering, anticorrosion, and automotive industry
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Due to business requirement, not all performed projects can be reflected in the internship report. This issue needs to be discussed with candidate/school in advance.

It is mandatory that applicants are students for the entire period of the internship.

We can only accept students with an EEA or Swiss citizenship (not requiring a work permit or visa to be eligible to perform an internship in Belgium)
