The Vacancy

Do you have the strategic vision to drive sustainable change, the commercial acumen to build influential partnerships, and the credibility to engage with policymakers at the highest levels?

We are seeking an experienced Country Manager to lead our activities in Belgium while overseeing EU policy engagement in Brussels. This is a unique opportunity to represent a globally recognised sustainability organisation at the intersection of business, government, environmental stewardship, and public affairs.

In this exciting, new Country Manager role, you will:
  • Lead the delivery of our strategic program in Belgium.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with industry, government, NGOs, and EU institutions.
  • Represent the organisation across Brussels and the wider European policy landscape.
  • Drive commercial partnerships and key account relationships.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing local team.
  • Contribute to regional and global sustainability objectives
We are looking for a strategic and collaborative leader with experience in public affairs, sustainability, commercial engagement, seafood or supply chain sectors, or a related field. You will be confident operating in a complex stakeholder environment, influencing decision-makers, and translating strategy into measurable results.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:
  • Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership development.
  • Knowledge of the Belgian market and Brussels policy environment.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Native-level Dutch/Flemish and fluent in English and French.
  • A passion for sustainability and positive environmental impact.

We’re an international organisation and our employees all demonstrate a level of cultural awareness, and value the diverse views and approaches relevant to the MSC program.

The MSC is committed to flexible working. Depending on location, the successful candidate may need to work from an MSC office for a minimum of 50% of their working time each month. The remaining time can be worked from home. During the onboarding process, hybrid work may require more in-office work than remote work.

Working at the MSC

The MSC’s vision is for the world’s oceans to be teeming with life, and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations. Today, the impacts of overfishing and climate change pose an even greater threat to the ocean and fish stocks. Through our internationally recognised certification and ecolabeling program, well-managed sustainable fisheries are recognised and rewarded throughout the seafood supply chain. Over 700 fisheries around the world, representing 19% of the annual global marine catch, are now engaged in the MSC program and MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 66 countries. Through partnerships and collective endeavour, we are on a mission to end overfishing.
